
ABOUT.
Marco Merenda (he / they) is an Italian performance artist with a focus on directing, dramaturgy, performance and physical theatre. Their performance projects aim to trigger enlightening thought processes in the audience through a queer in-yer-face aesthetic. An acting training at the Accademia del Teatro Oscar (Milan), directing training at the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi (Milan) and an intensive Viewpoints workshop with Ellen Lauren (SITI Company) are among Marco's most relevant artistic experiences. In 2017 they completed a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Literature at the Università degli Studi di Pavia and in February 2022 a Master's degree in Performance Studies at the University of Hamburg. Marco works as a freelance performer in Hamburg and collaborates with Linda Lou Dierich-Matzke, Glitch AG, Maciek Martios, Elli Neubert, Christopher Ramm, Nágila Analy Freitas Reis and Henry Hüster, among others. Marco's productions have been shown at numerous theatres and festivals throughout Germany and internationally, including: Kampnagel, Hamburger Sprechwerk, Lichthof Theatre, MS Stubnitz, Fleetstreet Theatre, Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, Ecosistem Festival (Bucharest), Kulturfactory (Naples) and Torino Fringe Festival. Marco's performances have been supported by the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media, the Hamburg-Mitte District, the Goethe Institute and Creative Europe, among others. They are currently a scholarship holder of the Claussen Simon Foundation as part of the StART.up funding programme.
